Hey classmates, I'm Seth Phillips. I'm majoring in Chinese and double majoring in Political Science.
I'm looking forward in getting to know you this semester, and hopefully establishing some friendships!
I'm an inspring bodybuilder, and I live my life to the fullest! My motto is " You should never give up on a dream because you can acheive the sky, if you reach for the it!" "A great mind is always better than a great body."
Arnold Scwarzeneggar, Tupac Shakur, Karim Smith, Jing Luo, Bruce Lee, my parents, and my siblings are my heroes!
Please read my Phillipscomp1quest for more background information about me!
This is a very old pic from last year, but didn't have any recent ones.
Below are the goals for my Foundations of College Writing Course.
For each goal, I've selected work that demonstrates how I addressed that goal during the course,
and explained how, citing specific examples from my work.
Goal
My Work
My explanation
Goal A - Students will be able to compose
for particular audiences and purposes
My Obituary for genre 2.
I had to write and compose an obitiuary of athletes who used and died from sports-enhancing drugs. I had to compose for my audience, which are people and athletes interested in drug use in sports. My purpose was to show people what drugs did to these athletes. I fulfilled these goals by completing goal A.
Goal B - Students will be able to compose using
language and conventions appropriate to genre
I wrote a diary entry for genre 1.
I wrote a diary entry and make it "first person" as if I really
was Charlie Shengel, a baseball athlete who used steroids. I made it very descriptive and personal like I actually had abused the drug.
Goal C - Students will be able to read, select, and use
evidence critically to formulate and support arguments
My magazine article for genre 3.
I wrote a magazine article on how drug use in sports ruins the sport. I had to read information about how the drugs helped the athletes. This allowed me to formulate my argument on how drug use in sports ruins the sport. I completed goal C by doing this.
Goal D - Students will be able to interpret and compose in
a variety of media and print/non-print genres
Obituary, Timeline, Article
I created and wrote an obituary, timeline, and article. When doing so, I made sure they looked professional and appealing
to the eye as well.
Goal E - Students will be able to describe and apply
appropriate writing processes, both individually
and in collaborative contexts
Peer review and new work
I used our previous peer revision sheets to guide me when I wrote my new
genres. This allowed me not to make the same mistake and be able to improve, so my final product could be the best it could be.
